“Rescue pot” is a package which covers the basic cooking needs for six to ten people. Beside two pots, a water container, spoons and a knife it includes a multi fuel cooking stove which is designed for humanitarian disaster relief operations. The focus of the design is to be user friendly and function in different cultures, contexts and locations. Furthermore the package is optimized for storage and fuel efficient cooking to match the strict logistical and financial demands of humanitarian organisations.

My degree project focuses on the relationship between design and rescue and tries to figure out how design can add to humanitarian aid and non-commercial environments.
In my project, I worked on a non-food item for a refugee camp where shelter, food and sanitary solutions are the key issues and need to be solved immediately after a humanitarian crisis. To make this possible, great logistical planning and equipment which reacts as flexibly as possible to a new situation is needed. To be accepted and therefore useful for the camp community, the technology needs to communicate in a clear way.
My degree project is a work about cultural differences, cooking and refugee camps. As a final product I created a package which offers the basic cooking needs for six to ten people.
According to the Sphere standards it consists of a stove, a big pot, a small pot and a pan. Furthermore it includes two wooden spoons, a knife and a water container. All parts fit into the big pot which makes them easy to ship and store.
Because in refugee camps and developing countries, fuel is often carried in coca cola bottles. The winding of the stove fits to these bottles so that a basic stove setup can be built with them.
By making the burning device adaptable to any fuel beverage and using capillary force to vaporize the fuel, the whole package gets a high grade of flexibility and could be upgraded to an everyday kitchen item after the crisis has ended.
The stove is designed to work as a center point and furthermore as an indicator of fireplaces in the camp environment. It tries to guide the user in a very clear way and by that offers a high grade of security.
The pots make cooking energy efficient and can therefore minimise fuel consumption. Two pots can be used at the same time. During these technique the heat is guided through the walls up to the next pot and by that used in an optimal way. Because of their black paint, sun energy can be used to keep meals warm.
