Our main issues have been the shelter standards and guidelines, which are very strictly worded and blocking our creativity and understanding of the reason behind the requirement. Another frustration has been that we still have not recieved material samples from the paper industry and a rescue tent, even though this was requested from day one.

Chalmers getting back on track
After all the new information we received in Hällefors through the MSB, the project has now taken a turn in a new direction. The main focus is now to create a solution that can be flown in by airplane, and that is cheaper and lighter than the current tent.

Fold a shelter
Fold-a-Shelter: a stockpileable, flat pack easy to assemble shelter in solid board that meets and exceeds shelter center / sphere standards. Multiple Fold-a-shelters can be joined to build a larger structure.

One problem when there is a disaster, or there is a war going on, is that when thousands of people come together in a refugee camp, thousands of people also want to cook and eat. Today when they cook, they usually make a fireplace existing of some bricks and an open fire. This becomes a problem [...]

Making of the final prototype
During tomorrow the final prototype shall be built! Complete with handle, bottom and damp.
Also we mean to compare it to a fireplace without any walls or anything. We are going to test how much better our prototype is by boiling water, and see how long it keeps boiling with a given amount of wood.

The testing of the final prototype is complete, and went very well!
Almost the whole group helped building it during the day, and tested it in the afternoon. The test was designed to show how well our device directs and preserve the heat from the burning wood, compared to a typical open fire. We had some [...] -
