Test day

The testing of the final prototype is complete, and went very well!

Almost the whole group helped building it during the day, and tested it in the afternoon. The test was designed to show how well our device directs and preserve the heat from the burning wood, compared to a typical open fire.  We had some issues with how to get the vessel, filled with about 2,5 liters of water, steady in the correct height. But we solved it with a pair of beam sections which acted support.

We used nearly 2 kg of wood per fireplace during the test.

We can sum up the results of the day with just some numbers:
                                                                     EBBQ                                             Open fire
Time to get the water boiling                        18 min                                            25 min
Boiled for                                                      1h 15min                                        22 min

Good work and comparison with open fire. You have delivered the work and research required. Suggestions for final presentation:

-> Scenario Humanitarian Organisation. How is the product handled, fly in solution, produced on site, stored at shelter hub etc. Provide brief descrioption.

-> User Scenario for End users (how are they handed out, insructed, 1 by familly or shared, how is the use of the product communicated so that it wil actually be used? etc)
-> Tech specs, production methods, weight, rough estimnate on unit cost for a 2k unit volume

please also fil in the sheet for the Emergency Housing Design Directory sent to you by e-mail.
well done so far,
